Elementary School
By the end of 2nd
grade, all students should be able to:
• Be familiar with the placement of
letters on keyboard
• Use software to compose stories
• Use software as appropriate in
curricular areas
• Be able to use drawing and painting
tools
• Use the basic functions on a calculator
By the end of 5th grade, all students
should demonstrate mastery of K-2 competencies and also be able to:
• Demonstrate an awareness and respect
for copyright laws
• Demonstrate the ability to keyboard
with proper touch typing skills
• Demonstrate an understanding of and
be able to use word processor software
• Demonstrate an understanding of and
be able to use database software including but not limited to sort, search and
library on-line skills
• Demonstrate the use of CD-ROM and other
interactive technology
• Integrate appropriate use of
multimedia into class activities
Middle School
By the end of 8th grade, all students should demonstrate
mastery of elementary competencies and also be able to:
• Demonstrate the relationships of
technology components
• Demonstrate an
understanding of the problems and issues in technology in society
• Demonstrate an
understanding and use of word processing software
• Demonstrate an understanding and use
of electronic spreadsheet software
• Demonstrate an awareness of emerging
technologies
• Demonstrate the use of the computer
as a tool for problem solving
• Demonstrate the appropriate use of
telecommunications
• Understand the basics of a networked
society
High School
• Use technology in all subject areas
