During the April 6, 2017, District of Innovation (DOI) Advisory Committee Meeting, the DOI Advisory Committee approved a proposed West ISD DOI Plan. Per TEC §12A.005 (a)(1), the DOI Plan must be posted to the West ISD website for thirty (30) days for community comment and review. The DOI Plan was posted from Friday, April 7, through Monday, May 8, 2017.
The next steps centered on a Public Hearing and possible approval of the DOI Plan by the West ISD Board of Trustees. On May 10, 2017, during the Regular Board Meeting, David Truitt, Superintendent, held the Public Hearing and presented the DOI Plan to the Board. The Board approved the DOI Plan, 7-0. Mr. Truitt had previously notified the Commissioner of Education of West ISD’s intent to vote on the proposed plan. The DOI Plan will go into effect for the 2017-2018 school year.
