District Announces Thanksgiving Holiday Dates

As a reminder, Monday, November 20, through Friday, November 24, 2017, is the West ISD Thanksgiving Break for all students and staff. District Announces Bid Notice for Portable Structures

NOTICE FOR SEALED BIDS: The Board of Trustees of the West Independent School District (“WISD”) will accept sealed bids for the sale and removal of portable structures as specified in the Bid Information Packet. Interested parties may contact Mr. Charles Mikeska, Assistant Superintendent, at the physical address, e-mail address or phone number below to receive the Bid Information Packet. WISD reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality in bids. Bids received after the deadline or faxed bids will not be considered. Sealed bids will be received until: 2:00 P.M., December 7, 2017.

District Announces West VFW Post 4819 Essay Winners

Recently, the West Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4819 announced their "Voice of Democracy" essay winners. From West High School, Hailey Routson placed first. Tucker Firasek placed second, and Lorelei Uptmore placed third. Hailey and Tucker's essays will advance to the next round. Congratulations to these outstanding writers! District Announces Plans to Help "Bully Proof" West ISD

With the recent passage of Senate Bill 179 or David's Law, West ISD worked to adopt certain practices and procedures to prevent and respond to bullying and cyberbullying, expand district jurisdiction for off-campus cyberbullying, and establish with the assistance of West PD civil and criminal consequences for certain types of bullying.

Over the summer, West ISD prepared a plan and response for each of this Senate Bill's provisions.
