When Thomas West came to the Bold Springs settlement north of Waco in 1859, he brought an enterprising spirit. His notable success as farmer, postmaster, business owner, and banker was a precursor to a lively and thriving community. By the turn of the century, the railroad through town had injected a sense of prosperity and diversity, and the Czech immigrants that largely called the town home left an indelible imprint on the businesses, churches, and schools of the community that ultimately became known as West, Texas.
Over a hundred years later, that legacy of hard work and common sense still characterizes this great community. The schools of the West Independent School District desire to embody the values that enabled those early settlers to render for themselves a remarkable quality of life and an enduring future. It is our deepest mission that our students are gaining every day the necessary knowledge, skills, and virtues to carry on that determined spirit of success in whatever endeavors they choose.
At West High School, you and your student can count on three things:
Your student will learn in a safe, orderly, and productive environment;
Our teachers and staff will give their very best, from the first bell until long past the last, each and every day; and
Every decision made will be centered on one principle: students come first.
We are proud to serve the young people and families of West and the surrounding area. Whether your family has been here for a hundred years or one, we want you to know and believe, as we do, that your children are truly living and learning...
WHERE THE BEST BEGIN.
Great things are happening here every day. If there is anything we can do for you, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
