Welcome to West Elementary, “where the foundation for tomorrow begins today”.  My name is Robert Fleming and I am starting my second year as principal of WES. Last year was awesome year for us and I am looking forward to another great year with your kids.

Before coming to West ISD I had the pleasure of working with the children of Waco ISD for 12 years. I was an American History teacher, an Instruction Specialist and an Assistant Principal. I also had the distinct privilege of serving as an officer in the U.S. States Army before I started my career in education.  I have a B. S.in Education from Henderson State University and a M.E.D from Tarleton State University. I have been married to my wife Martha for twenty-four years. We have two daughters, Jennifer and Victoria; one son, Pete; and one grandson, Austin.

It is a pleasure to have you visit our exciting and informative web page! Please feel free to take a few minutes and browse through our different links. The main purpose of our website is to provide you with an additional resource for information about West Elementary and to promote positive communication between the home and school. Our website includes basic information about the workings of the school; brief descriptions of our programs; an overview of the school day; contact information; and a link to your teacher’s website. The site also has an electronic version of an actual 3rd grade Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAKS). I encourage you to take to the test; not to see if you can pass the test, but for you to see firsthand the rigor and complexity of the state testing instrument.

The teachers, staff and administrators at WES are committed to the academic and social success of all children. We look forward to a continued effort between home, school and community to promote our efforts. Once again, welcome to our learning community and our WES family.
